This past week Adam and Emily and I had the opportunity to participate in a re-enactment of a pioneer trek. We spent 4 days pretending we were pioneers and experiencing the hardships that come with that. One day we walked 15 miles. We walked the Rocky Ridge, went through mud bogs, crossed the Sweetwater River, and the boys called out for the Mormon Batallion which left the girls to push and pull the handcarts up a sandy hill. We camped 3 nights, played pioneer games, and had our lives changed forever. I have to say that this experience ranks in the top 10 of spiritual experiences in my life. I learned that I love Wyoming more that ever. To live in place where so many sacred things happened and where so much sacrafice took place is a real priviledge.
This was a wet and muddy moment. We were all wet and sandy. Real life for the pioneers.
Adam is helping a young lady across the Sweetwater River. This was a very sweet experience. Before crossing the river we were told the story of the young men who helped the Martin's Company people across the river.
Emily is being carried across the Sweetwater River at the place where the young men helped the Martin's Company across when it was icy and cold. This was a very sacred moment in our trek thinking about those pioneers who were cold and distraught just thinking about crossing the river. The youth were very reverent and respectful of this moment.
Emily was such a trooper! She is a strong and sturdy girl! We crossed seven mud bogs, some easier than others.

The Seven Wonders of Casper

#1 The next Wonder of Casper is the "Seeing Eye House" Weird.

#2 This Wonder of Casper is found at the Public Library. If you stand in the middle of this you talk to that round thing on the wall and your voice echos back to you loud and clear.

This Wonder of Casper is "Gravity Hill" You put your car in Neutral and face uphill. Your car will begin to roll up the hill. Interesting.

#4 This Wonder of Casper is downtown. It is the "Spiral Staircase"

This wonder of Casper is called "The Clock that no one Sees" To see it you have to go to the top of the parking structure on Center Street and look on the back side of the Lou Talbert Building.

This Wonder of Casper is called the "Egg Beater" This is downtown at the Wells Fargo Bank Building. You stand underneath it and spin around and you are supposed to feel like you are in an egg beater. I think it just makes you dizzy!

#7 The Seventh Wonder of Casper you have to drive up to Look Out Point on the Mountain at night. You look at the the shape of the lights and they look like a steam boat. I-25 going north is lighted and that is the smoke stack. No picture of that. It was a very windy day and nearly got blown off the mountain. Grandpa lost his hat!

Emily qualifies for State

Emily qualified for the State Swim Meet this weekend in
Laramie. She swam the 100 free in l:02:6. She is real excited
about this accomplishment. Now she will try to qualify in the 50 free
and the 200 IM. She gets to wear the KW swim parka to show her accomplishment

New Countertops and Paint

I just love my new kitchen countertops and paint. While I was away Clark worked hard at fininshing up this project. I just love how bright and roomy it looks.

The Little Roller Coaster

This is the roller coaster that we couldn't get off. The girl who whomanaged the ride couldn't quite get the cars to stop on the right spot. We kept going around until she got it just right! :)

Spokane Trip

These are my two sisters Laura and Dora. They are two amazing women! We enjoyed being together this past weekend. We visited a number of quilt stores and talking about our families.

The two quilts above were ones I made for Lydia and Liza.

This baby quilt is upside down. Hmmm. This is a baby genius quilt. It was very fun to put together. I made this one for a friend who just had a baby. I made one for Porter also that is very similar to this one. This really is one of my favorites.

This quilt was made for Ben. His school colors were green and gold.

Adam just got his license and is ready to drive away. I stand at the door and make sure he puts his seat belt on and backs away nice and slow. Levi tells me he drives too slow. I think that is what I want to hear.

Mother's Day 2008

Mother's Day was great this year! Leah and her boys came over for dinner and I played Settler's of Catan with Jaxon, Jaden, and Levi. I played another game with Clark, Adam, and Emily. That evening we went to the Children's Chorale concert and watched Emily and Levi sing their hearts out. We also received a phone call from Jacob. He was the sweetest. He said all the right things. We are anxiously awaiting his homecoming on Wednesday evening! It was a fun day!

Lydia and I became good friends while I stayed with them in Las Vegas. Lydia is a happy child and likes to keep herself very busy. Lydia likes to dump her puzzles out of their containter and then sit in the container and do one puzzle at a time. She is learning how to talk on the phone and enjoy it.

Lydia is a happy child when all things are going her way! She likes to sing and read and dance!!

BEN RECEIVES HIS MISSION CALL!!!

We were all excited when Ben received his mission call. He will be going to the Sapporo Japan mission. He will go to the MTC in Provo on April 23rd.
